Aikido
The Long Island Aikikai is the premier Aikido Dojo on Long Island (Bay Shore, New York). Established by Chief Instructor Edward Hagihara in 1964, our Aikido school is the oldest on Long Island. We offer classes in the traditional martial art of Aikido at both out Bay Shore Headquarters and our Long Beach branch Dojo.

Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū Iaido
To complement your Aikido training, The Long Island Aikikai now offers classes in Musō Jikiden Eishin-ryū Iaido. Those that are interested in joining the Long Island Aikikai’s Iaido program (Bay Shore, New York), must first obtain permission of our Iaido Instructor; Kevin Loughlin, 3rd Dan. Please e-mail or call the Dojo to arrange this. Otherwise, please visit the Dojo during an Iaido class (Tuesdays 5:00-6:30pm).

Misogi no Suzu
Misogi no Suzu is one of the most important of the Aikido side-disciplines. Its purpose is to unify mind and body in the midst of chaos. The essential elements are sitting seiza, chanting, ringing of the suzu (bell), and controlled breathing.
