Aikido is bigger than any one dojo. Long Island Aikikai has been part of that wider world since 1964, and these are the connections that matter most to us.
Hombu Dojo — Tokyo
We are directly affiliated with Hombu Dojo, the world headquarters of Aikido, founded by Morihei Ueshiba and still the centre of the art today. Our founder trained there, studying under O-Sensei himself before being sent back to New York to teach. That lineage runs straight through this dojo to the students on the mat now.
Sanchin Aikido — Scotland
Our affiliated dojo in Paisley, Scotland, affiliated with Long Island Aikikai since 2026 and led by Graeme Ede, who also appears on our own teaching staff. Aikido travels: if you train with us and find yourself in Scotland, you have a mat to train on.
