Traditional Aikido Since 1964
The Long Island Aikikai is the premier Aikido Dojo on Long Island. Established by Chief Instructor Edward Hagihara in 1964, our Aikido school is one of the oldest in the country. The mission of the Long Island Aikikai is to preserve and spread the peaceful martial art of Aikido as taught by Aikido’s founder Morihei Ueshiba. Students at the Long Island Aikikai train in the image of O’Sensei’s (Aikido’s founder) ideals; a harmonious environment devoid of competition and destructive aggression. In addition to offing Aikido classes for adults and children, the Long Island Aikikai also offers classes in the martial art of Iaido. The Long Island Aikikai is a United States Aikido Federation member Dojo under the leadership of Y. Yamada Shihan 8th Dan.
